DEATH OF THE VICAR OF RENWICK

The Rev. George Pollard, vicar of Renwick, died at the Vicarage on Thursday at the age of 72 years.

He was ordained a deacon in 1853 and priest in 1856 by the Bishop of Melbourne. He was appointed curate of Moorlap and Bellerine in 1853, and afterwards of St. Paul, Melbourne, and chaplain of Melbourne Hospital. From 1858 to 1866 he was the incumbent of St. John's, Creswick, and thence in 1868 minister of Christ Church, Daylesford, all in Victoria.

On coming to England, Mr. Pollard received the curacy of Bermondsey in 1872, but after holding this charge for a year he accepted the curacy of St. John's, Sheffield. He only stayed there three years, his next move being to Sadberge, in the county of Durham.

In 1879 he was offered and accepted the living at Renwick, at the hands of the late Mr. J. Nicholson. There are 242 inhabitants in the parish, and the net value of the living is £114, with house.
